Quorum Sender

Devices

Quorum Send.1 (I3500) The quorum sender device produces LuxI, which in turn produces HSL. HSL freely diffuses across the membrane, so larger LuxI production corresponds to higher intracellular and extracellular HSL concentration. In nature, bacteria cells using the Lux quorum sensing machinery have the LuxI device (I0461) under the control of the weakly constitutive lux pR promoter (R0062). We have chosen to mimic naturedevice. When the HSL builds up to a certain intercellular threshold concentration, enough LuxR will interact with HSL to activate the quorum receiver (I3510) to turn the switch OFF.
