The Pennsylvania State University iGEM 2005

Our Idea

Bacterial “Relay Race”

-> 1. A motile bacteria moves along a microchannel producing a diffusible quorum signal
-> 2. When it encounters a second immotile bacteria, the quorum signal turns on a switch in the latter controlling its motility
-> 3. The switch in bacteria 2 produces a feedback signal telling the first bacteria to expire.
