- Dominic: how much do these approaches differ from other work, i.e. Austin?

- Urs: Let's assume that we have got only 2 large areas (one dark and the other illuminated). So in the dark aerea D and B are produced and in the illuminated one A and C. By and by the different substances diffuse. At the beginning you would probably see the edge as a line but by further diffusion wouldn't this line blur or even disappear?

- Herve : We probably have to take into account that bacteria are moving which could also raise some problems for the edge detection project. It is probably difficult to modelize the tumbling of bacteria. Nevertheless I think that there are some mutants which are impaired in movement (some mutations in the phosphorylation cascade ) or one could also imagine to use some chemicals such as trifluoromethyl ketone.
