While Cambridge gives you a general engineering background for the first 2 yrs of the course, I s The fact that in October I will begin a practical, hands-on molecular biology-based PhD in synthetic biology says everything about how highly I value iGEM and the ideas it promotes.

Away from the lab I play soccer for my College First XI  and I'm also the Social Secretary for the three men's teams - that obviously fills a lot of my time but I do have a real keen & active interest in film and music.

I play soccer for my College First XI  and I'm also the Social Secretary for the three men's teams - that obviously fills a lot of my time but I do have a real keen & active interest in film and music.

I'm really looking forward to meeting and working with you all as well as being hugely excited about the whole competition this year and, in the long term, the development of syn.bio in the future. I feel very fortunate to be in such an informed position with such wonderful company at this stage of the field's early life.
