Concept

Balloonconcept.jpg

The light in the morning leaking from a gap between the curtains... this morning lights calls and awakes the E. coli.

Suprise!!

The E. coli become bigger and bigger like BALLOON!!!

→World first bacteria that swells by lights.!!!

When growing...

The movement of the E. coli can be obvered with the naked eyes !

"Big" E. coli is easily sorted by FACS !

Make much more proteins/cell !

Design

First

The E. coli doesn't have photoreceptor. But...

We have Cph8(utwxas/uCSF;iGEM2005)in our hand

Second

The E. coli divides the cells by forming "partition". So...

'Expression of the enzyme in septem formation is knocked-down.

Third

E. coli rather "extend" due to the action of RodA. So...

We make inducible RodAmut.

Experiments

  1. We made inducible rodAmut.
  2. We made CI inverter and compared it.
