When Proteus vulgaris bacteria which have urease activity are present in a medium with urea, the pH is raised. (Due to ammonia production)
When CaCl2 is present in the medium with Proteus vulgaris crystals were found, possibly of calcite.
When both CaCl2 and urea are present in the medium, a sediment is found which is possibly calcite.
