As a freshman, I didn't think that I would have many opportunities at participating in real lab research. So I was very excited to learn about the iGEM project both because of its cross-disciplinary involvement and because it offered me a chance to get involved in a real scientific research project. The birth of the iGEM team is just one example of how Brown offers its students the resources necessary for them to shape their own education.
