Quorum Receiver

Devices

The quorum receiver device produces LuxR, which binds HSL to activate the lux pR promoter (R0062), sending TIPS out to the switch input device. In nature, bacteria cells using the Lux quorum sensing machinery have the LuxR device (I0462) under the control of the weakly constitutive lux pL promoter (R0063). We have chosen to mimic naturedesign in our device. The receiver creates TIPS output when enough HSL is present to interact with LuxR and bind to lux pR promoter (R0062). These TIPS go to one of the switch input devices, turning the switch OFF once the quorum threshold is reached.
