The First Critical Design Review meeting took place today at 3pm.

Contents

Attendees

  1. Charles Yoon
  2. Herak Sikder

Topics of Discussion

  • What do the Design Review committee have ?
Answer: We have the design, the BioBrick parts used for the design, the mathematical modelling and the basic idea of how the biological thermometer is supposed to work.
  • What do we lack ?
Answer: No experimental data to back up the design and its modelling. Most of the BioBrick parts used in the design are not verified functionally via experiments.

Outcomes of the meeting

  • Each member should go through the design thoroughly. They should get familiar with the parts used in the design.
  • A second meeting is set up on 13th July, Thursday at 3pm.

Agenda for the 2nd meeting

  • Take the whole design apart and analyze it from bottom up starting at the parts level.
  • Come up with a strategy to test the existing design. For instance: how to test critical parts of the design individually before integrating them into the overall genetic circuit.
  • Come up with a reasonable time line for the testing.
  • Think about the kind and range of values we are expecting from the experimental testings.
  • Discuss on ways to improve the design or to substitute parts in the design with better working part which have experimental back-ups.

NOTE: All the attendees of the meeting on thursday are encouraged to bring print out of the design of the Cell-See-Us thermometer with them.
